<FLAME SUIT ON>
I had to do something drastic to get the cone filter away from the hot engine, there was a piece of thin sheet metal in between a lower opening. I took advantage of this. Car actually sounds amazing in between this and the exhaust. Runs much more spirited and does not lag after it starts to warm up (breathing in hot air).

I sanded off the groves on the plug of the 3" MAF. It is a plugNplay swap. I will see how it runs, so far so good. I believe the fourth pin needs to be tweaked so the resistance is proper, but as of right now it runs nice and smooth.

Final product, forgot to take a quick picture after the new hose clamps were on. Those zip ties were only temporary.

Update March 2009:

 Actually ended up removing the larger MAF but keeping the 034 intake hose with the stock MAF. Replaced some of the hoses behind the throttle body and the car idles perfectly now.
